Kneecap broken again

Rants

I first hurt my left kneecap circa 2018~2019. I slipped down a flight of stairs on my butt. I experienced firsthand how difficult it is to walk with handicapped leg. At the time, my grandmother came to take me to the doctor, and she walked way faster than I did, she didn't even need a walking stick. I eventually recovered from it, don't really remember how long did it take at that time. I went to a traditional "dit da" doctor, he hit me where it hurt, my leg relaxed a bit, but it didn't help much.

Fast forward to 2026, last friday while at home, after taking care of the stuffs delivered to my door. My knee suddenly gave up and snapped, I fell down on my back. Luckily I didn't fall head-first thanks to my instinct to support my body with my arms(or my palms?). My palm hurt a bit, but quickly recovered in half an hour I think. What really hurt was my kneecap, again. I moaned so much I thought I was going to die. I was literally limping on the ground for the first hour. I called my mom because I originally was to go to mainland China with her and my grandmother. Apparently with a broken kneecap and swollen leg I wouldn't be able to walk much, so I called her and cancelled that.

Two days later, I went to one of the Chinese medicine clinic to the mall nearby, told the doctor my left leg hurt really bad, and she suggested treatment with "Ultrasonic machine".

Okay, I don't know exactly how this machine works, but I can say that when the doctor swiped over where it really hurt, the muscle was literally moving up and down violently, a bit like when you're on a massage chair. The good thing is, it somehow worked. I bought 3 sessions of therapy totally, and I did really feel I am getting better day by day. I went back to work at Wednesday, and I probably went too far with my leg. By the end of the day I felt so uncomfortable I had to call an Uber to take me home instead of taking a bus as usual. It would take mt 10-15 minutes to reach the bus stop normally, and it would take 30+ minutes that day. Safe to say I was definitely not ready to go back to work. I went back to the doctor for the last ultrasonic session, she gave me another 2 days of sick leave and suggested maybe I try needling - another traditional Chinese medicine technique.

As of now when I am writing this post, I can walk a lot faster without feeling much pain now, although my kneecap and nearby areas are still stiff and swollen. I think I will go back for another session tomorrow, because I want to get well as soon as possible.
